To the programme:

You don’t have to go all the way to Broadway to enjoy the most famous musical melodies. Performed by excellent singers Monika Sommerová and Lukáš Randák, you will hear the most beautiful songs and duets created by masters of this genre such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Leonard Bernstein and Karel Svoboda. The West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Martin Peschik, will accompany the programme with orchestral music from famous musicals.

Performers:

Monika Sommerová – vocal

In 2006-2012 she studied opera singing at the Prague Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Jarmila Krásová and later Prof. Monika Brychtová. She also received voice training under the Italian opera singer Antonio Carangelo. In January 2012 she attended singing courses under the guidance of Magdalena Blahušiaková and J. Hartfiel in Karlovy Vary.

Here she also gained experience with the orchestra under the direction of František Drse. In 2012, she attended the Don Giovanni Masterclasses in Bren in Italy with Prof. F. M. Algeri, Prof. S. Heger and Prof. V. Licari, where she studied the role of Zerlina.

She played in the musical “Peter and Lucie” and “Alena” by Pavel Trojan Jr. She was also part of the later film adaptation of the musical “Alena”. She collaborated with Michal David on the musical Matahari. In September 2013, she performed the role of Daphne from the opera Apollo e Dafne by G. F. Handel, which she performed at the Jarmila Novotná Festival in Litny in the same year.

She has also collaborated with important musical ensembles such as the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and with conductors Miloš Formáček, Miriam Němcová, Tomáš Hála and Milan Kaňák.

Currently, she is a guest at the North Bohemian Theatre in Ústí nad Labem in the role of Manja in the operetta Countess Mariza and Anna in the opera Nabucco and performs in the musical Seven Ravens by Pavel Trojan Jr. at the Semafor Theatre.

Lukáš Randák – zpěv

The native of České Budějovice is definitely not a newcomer to the musical stage. Although he has a permanent presence in the South Bohemian Theatre, he has been a guest all over the country, whether in Pilsen, Ústí nad Labem or Opava. The audience could see Lukáš in the main roles in the musicals Ball of Vampires, Romeo and Juliet, Casanova, Evita or The Divotvorny Pot. He has also appeared in other musicals such as Mephisto, Doctor Ox, The Snow Queen, A Drop of Honey for Verunka, The Witch, Robinson Crusoe, Doctor Faust, Les Misérables and Forget Shakespeare. He also performs as a soloist with the Fordance Orchestra, organises concerts and hosts events.

Martin Peschík – dirigent

Martin Peschík studied piano and conducting at the Conservatory in České Budějovice. He graduated in conducting from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno in the class of Prof. Jan Zbavitel. As a conductor he has collaborated with the National Theatre in Brno, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně and others. Since 2002 he has worked at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice as choirmaster and conductor and since January 2008 as chief conductor. He has staged many operas, operettas and ballets there (Rigoletto, Faust, The Love Potion, The Mouthpiece, Martha, Rusalka, Jacobin, The Gypsy Baron, The Bat, The Princess of Chardonnay, etc.). He has conducted in many European countries (Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark) and at major music festivals (Janáček Brno 2004, Opera 2003 and 2005, Festival of Chamber Music Český Krumlov, etc.). In October 2011 Martin Peschík was appointed to the position of chief conductor of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně. From 2011 to 2016 he also held the position of the orchestra’s director.
