About programme:

The afternoon concert as part of the Festival without Borders in Karlovy Vary will offer music from famous and lesser-known German films.

You can also enjoy the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra under the baton of German conductor Guido J. Rumstadt at a public dress rehearsal from 15.30.

Guido Johannes Rumstadt – Conductor

After leaving school, Guido Johannes Rumstadt studied conducting in Karlsruhe, Hamburg and Salzburg. His first positions as a conductor took him to the state theaters in Mainz, Karlsruhe and Wiesbaden as well as the Frankfurt Opera. In 1983, he founded the Zwingenberg Castle Festival, with which he was associated as Artistic Director and Artistic Director until 2001, consistently championing opera rarities such as Gluck’s The Pilgrims of Mecca, Weber’s Abu Hassan and Dvořák’s Jacobins. From 1998 to 2004, Guido Johannes Rumstadt was GMD in Regensburg. His work here focused on contemporary and rarely performed music theater works, including the opera Der Traum ein Leben by Walter Braunfels. From 2007 to 2023, he was engaged as First Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Guido Johannes Rumstadt has made guest appearances at numerous international opera houses, including New York City Opera, Minnesota Opera, Seattle Opera, English National Opera and Théâtre La Monnaie in Brussels. In Germany, he has guest conducted at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Cologne Opera, among others. Guido Johannes Rumstadt has been a full professor of conducting at the Nuremberg University of Music since the 2009/10 winter semester and has conducted the Hans-Sachs-Chor Nuremberg since July 2014.
